Local musicians play with the big names of folk. A company of 7 local musicians lead by Hugh Crabtree will provide the entertainment for the second day of the Henley Beer and Wine Festival on December 3rd. Hugh is the leading light behind Feast of Fiddles – a 12 piece fiddle group who have been wowing audiences up and down the country for 14 years.

Hugh will be joined for the Henley event by fellow Feast Of Fiddles members Dave Harding on bass, John Underwood and Martin Vincent on guitars and Tom Leary on fiddle. Drumming duties fall to Alan Barwise member of the Legendary Clayson and the Argonauts revival band. Last but not least Hugh’s daughter Sophie Crabtree will join the ensemble on fiddle and vocals.

The company will provide three different sets.

The first by Ashleigh will be an acoustic folk set featuring traditional and original material. This will be followed by a folk rock performance by long time Reading barn dance band Whittakers Patent Remedy.

The Usual Suspects will finish up the session with their mix of covers, pub songs and party numbers. Feast of Fiddles members also include Peter Knight of leye Span, Chris Leslie of Fairport Convention and Brian McNeill of The Battlefield Band.

The world’s best known folk rock drummer Dave Mattacks is also in the band making the annual trip back from his new home in the States for the tour. The band played at the Great British Beer Festival at Earl’s Court this year as well as at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention in August. Hugh and his pals are well used to the big stage and making sure everyone has a good time. “We’ve really enjoyed our festival appearances this year which have complimented our annual tour in the spring.

Getting some of the chaps together for this local event has been great fun and we hope visitors to the event like our music.” For further information contact Hugh Crabtree on 07831 402470 For further information on Feast of Fiddles see www.feastoffiddles.com
